Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam and chaired the opening conference. Attending
the seminar were Mr Andrew Speedy, FAO Chief Representative in Vietnam,
Deputy Chief of International Cooperation Nguyen Manh together 60
representatives from the Department, Institute of the Ministry of
Agriculture and Rural Development, and Department of Agriculture Rural Development, Center and a unit of media, newspapers in Vietnam.
The
workshop heard the opening speech of your co-chaired the conference,
reporting on the implementation of the project the project manager,
four reported by four groups of consultants in the preparation for different
theme is Information on the fisheries sector, market and export
fisheries, laws and regulations of the WTO regarding fisheries, and
quality of seafood safety and hygiene. Then,
the workshop focused on discussing the content and recommendations
regarding the draft National Action Plan (NAP) to develop sustainable
aquaculture sector after Vietnam joins the WTO period 2010 -- 2012.
Workshop
is a good opportunity for experts in the country with the delegates to
share knowledge, views and information on fisheries, a number of
recommendations and solutions-oriented fisheries development in time to. Comments speeches in the seminar focused on key issues:

Having identified the major problems of the fishery in recent years,
especially after joining WTO: market information, quality and seafood
safety and hygiene, harmonization of laws and regulations with the domestic regulations and commitments in the WTO, the implementation of legal documents in the locality.

In the near future should focus on promoting the perfection of legal
documents, and to enhance public communication and education community
so that people understand and comply strictly with the provisions of
the law on fishery .

Concretize the objectives of the research institutes, remove debug
difficulties exist in the local mass production and processing
enterprises of aquatic products for export to ensure sustainable
development and environmental resources aquatic in the next stage.
Workshop
also discussed and agreed with the approach toward building a National
Action Plan on Sustainable Development fisheries sector after Vietnam
joins the WTO period 2010-2012, based on the Program actions
of agricultural and rural development program implementation actions of
the Government of Vietnam is a member of the World Trade Organization
(WTO) for 2007-2010 issued together with Decision of the Minister Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of 3165/QD-BNN-HTQT on November 16, 2007.
Based
on reports of the previous comments and suggestions of the delegates at
the seminar's final project, Project Management Board and consultants
of national and international project Additional projects will complete the draft National Action Plan. Department
of International Cooperation will be the Minister of Agriculture and
Rural Development for consideration and approval issued national action
plan on sustainable development of fisheries sector after Vietnam joins
the WTO period 2010-2012 .
